Hayward Tyler successfully deliver the world's largest Subsea Motors

Hayward Tyler Ltd, a leading manufacturer of pumps and motors for the power and oil and gas industries, has announced that it has now delivered three of the largest subsea motors ever built. The 2500 kW subsea motors were ordered by Aker Kvaerner Subsea, a leading provider of surface and subsea solutions for the oil and gas industry, to drive their seawater injection pumps on the StatoilHydro Tyrihans project in the Norwegian Sea. The motors have been developed in close cooperation with Aker Solutions.

The qualified Hayward Tyler design for the 2500 kW variable speed, super synchronous motor will operate at speeds ranging from 2500 to 4000 rpm.

The subsea motors will have increased insulation (11 kV) to accommodate the electrical challenges faced by the world’s largest subsea motor and longest step out (31,4 km) from the Kristin platform.

Mark Wood, Group Sales and Marketing Director, Hayward Tyler stated "We are proud to have built and delivered these extraordinary motors and to be involved in such an important project. Building the motors is a significant achievement for Hayward Tyler in terms of technical challenges and engineering capabilities and we look forward to the new challenges that lie ahead to further develop our motor technology”.
