Sasan UMPP Faces Delays Because of Environmental Issues

The supercritical 3,960-megawatt (MW) Sasan Ultra Mega Power Project (UMPP), which is under development at Sasan in the Singrauli district of Madhya Pradesh, is facing delays because of environmental issues. The project is being developed by Sasan Power Limited (SPL) (Waidhan, Madhya Pradesh), a wholly owned subsidiary of Reliance Power Limited. When completed, the Sasan UMPP will be India s largest integrated power project to be based on pithead coal, and one of the world s largest such projects.
