Solar power scheme attracts 26 proposals


The Special Incentive Package Scheme (SIPS), aimed for augmenting investments in semiconductor fabs, ecosystem units and solar PV projects, has attracted 26 proposals amounting to Rs 2,29,000 crore.
This scheme initiated by the Government was to position India in the league of global hi-tech manufacturing destinations closed on 31 March 2010, which is exactly after three years after it was flagged off. Now no more new applications will be accepted by the Department of IT under the scheme, but the processing of existing applications will continue.
Applications have come in from BHEL, Birla Surya, and Sterlite Technologies, Moser Baer to mention a few.
