8,157 MW hydel power to be added in 11th Plan

Recently the Task Force for Hydro Power Development reviewed the upcoming hydel stations across India for faster execution of hydro projects.
About 8,157 MW is likely to be commissioned during the Eleventh Plan while a capacity of 20,000 MW is proposed for Twelfth Plan.
Power Minister, Sushilkumar Shinde, has asked the state governments to facilitate environmental clearance of projects at the state-level and firming up time schedules for for better implementation of these projects.
