Bajaj Hindustan to develop 1980 MW project in Lalitpur

The Mayawati cabinet has okayed setting up of the 1980 MW thermal power plant in Lalitpur by Bajaj Hindustan led consortium under the MoU route. The power plant will be developed under the MoU route instead of the standard practice of developing it through the case-II bidding procedure.
As per the MoU, 90 per cent of the power generated will be sold to the state government at the rates approved by the electricity regulatory body and the remaining 10 per cent would be left free for the promoters.
The project will be developed over 1500 acre and would be located 60 km from the Rajghat dam in Mirchwara village of Lalitpur district. Land and water would be arranged by the state government while the Bajaj Hindustan led consortium would have to work out the coal linkages for the project.
