The Electrical and Automation Company, a part of L&T has bagged a Rs 212-crore order from the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Co to integrate power distribution in the state and for online monitoring.
The contract involves automatic meter reading, GIS mapping and setting up of an IT/communication network for a 2.28 million consumer distribution network across 95 towns. The order is to be completed within18 months.
This is a part of the Restructured Accelerated Power Development and Reforms Programme (RAPDRP) of the Union Power Ministry for mechanisation of the distribution process to minimise technical and commercial losses. Under this programme, Rs 40,000 crore has been set aside for infrastructure; the balance is for system integration.
