The National Thermal Power Corporation's (NTPC) Korba project in Chhattisgarh has recorded the highest Plant Load Factor (PLF) among all the generating stations of the country's largest power producer.
The Korba plant had surpassed previous records and recorded 97.61 per cent PLF in the financial year 2009-10, the company's statement issued here said.
During the period, the plant had generated 17,955.471 million units (MUs) of electricity.
Company sources said that the Korba NTPC project had stood first in terms of achieving highest PLF among all the generating stations in the country.
A plant load factor is a measure of average capacity utilisation.
The Korba project has completed more than 25 years of operation since the commercial operation declaration of its first unit in 1983.
The plant has received Meritorious Performance Award from Government of India about 20 times and has been a model power station in operation and maintenance.
The project has 3 units of 200 MW each and 3 units of 500 MW each.
Another 500 MW unit is going to be operational in a few months after which the total capacity of this plant will be 2600 MW. Korba is one of the stations of NTPC that produces power at the cheapest rate.
The General Manager of NTPC Korba, Janardan Kar has congratulated the employees for the record performance.
