State Bank of India (SBI) has become the first financial services entity in the country to enter green power as they plan to set up wind mills for captive use. SBI plans to venture in green power to become energy-neutral over a period of time.
The bank has decided to install ten wind mills in partnership with Suzlon Energy in Gujarat,
In Phase II SBI will install more wind mills based on the experience of installing the present wind mills, the discussions on these have already begun with various regulatory authorities for clearance. SBI is having discussions with the Gujarat Energy Development Authority to permit it to install additional 20 MW capacity wind mills in the state.
