Videocon to develop 5000 MW power projects

Videocon plans to generate 5,000 MW of power through projects in states like Gujarat, Chhatisgarh, Maharashtra and West Bengal. As per the officials of Videocon, “In power sector, we have plans for 5000 MW projects in pipeline, as India has huge requirement for power."
The company plans to set up a 1200 MW coal-based power plant at Pipavav in Gujarat, the development work of this project will begin as soon as equipment order is awarded to BHEL. The financial arrangement of Rs 6000 crore has been already made with banks.
For this, the company has already acquired a coal mine in Indonesia with capacity of 200 million tonne of coal and has plans to acquire a few more. For the expansion of the Pipavav project, land has been already acquired for the generation of additional 1200 MW.
Apart from this, Videocon has also acquired land and tied up for fuel for establishing a 1200 MW power plant in Chhattisgarh since fuel is available in plenty in Chhattisgarh. They also have plans to set up plants in Maharashtra and West Bengal with similar capacities.
