CLP Power's wind farm at Theni inaugurated

CLP Power India, a wholly-owned subsidiary of CLP Holdings, on 13 May 2010 inaugurated its 99 MW wind farm near Theni in Tamil Nadu.

The wind farm is to be fully commissioned by end-June 2010 and is expected to qualify as a clean development mechanism (CDM) project under the Kyoto protocol.

The company had entered into an agreement with Vestas Wind Technology India to develop this greenfield project. The entire power generated through this plant is likely to be sold to the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board under the terms of a 20-year PPA.
