NTPC to raise Rs 12,818 crore in 2010-11

NTPC will borrow Rs 12,818 crore during the current financial year for their capacity addition programme. Out of the total amount, the company will raise Rs 9,859.74 crore from domestic sources and the balance Rs 2,958.26 crore from the overseas market.
NTPC has a planned capital expenditure of Rs 29,104 crore for 2010-11 (including for joint venture projects), against Rs 14,002 crore in the last financial year.
The requirement from domestic sources has already been tied up with the State Bank of India, Life Insurance Corporation of India and Power Finance Corporation among the financial institutions that have approved loans. Of the overseas borrowings, an amount of $500 million could be through external commercial borrowing (ECB) issue if it gets favourable interest rates of around 5.6-6 per cent.
