Shree Cement plans to set up plants to generate 50 MW in Rajasthan at an investment of about Rs 750 crore, thus marking its foray into solar power sector.
The company is likely to utilise its present cash surplus of Rs 2,000 crore to fund the proposed plant.
Currently, the company is in the process of appointing a consultant for the power plant. It has already identified locations for putting up two solar power plants, according to sources. However, names of these locations have not been disclosed.
