HPCL to expand Vizag refinery capacity for Rs 13k crore
Hindustan Petroleum Corp Ltd will invest Rs 13,000 crore to double the capacity of its Vizag oil refinery in Andhra Pradesh to 15 million tonne a year by 2013-14. The preparation of detailed feasibility report (DFR) was in progress.
The decision to expand the Vizag refinery follows steel tycoon Lakshmi Mittal group and French oil firm Total SA walking out of a proposed US$ 4 billion project to build a 15 million tonne per annum refinery and a 2.5 million tonne per annum petrochemicals plant near HPCL's refinery at Visakhapatnam.
