Gemac and SEPCO III to set up thermal plant

Gemac Energy (GEL) has plans to develop a coal based thermal power plant with Sepco III (China) in Tamil Nadu with a total capacity of 1320 MW. The project will cost about Rs 6000 crore. Apart from this project, the two will also plan to work together to provide engineering, procurement and construction services for the Indian power industry.
The proposed power plant will come up on 800 acre at Sirkazhi in Nagapattinam district. The Phase I of 660 MW will be complete in the first three years while the entire project is to be complete within five years. The site will also have a 10 mld desalination plant to cater to internal needs.
The power plant will be based on super critical technology with super critical boiler, turbine generator and other equipment sourced from China. It will have a debt-equity ratio of 75:25.
