Suzlon Green Power Ltd, part of Suzlon Group, plans to set up a 50- mw wind power plant at Ramagiri in Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh at an estimated cost of Rs 300 crore.
Suzlon is in the process of obtaining necessary clearances from the state government. If everything goes well the project would be established by end of this year.
Besides Suzlon, several other companies including Shriram EPC Ltd and Enercon India Ltd have shown interest in setting up wind farms in Tamil Nadu.
A wind farm can take less than six months to install; the more critical issues are signing the power purchase agreement and seeking statutory clearances.
