R Power Awards Ge Rs 10k Cr Order
Reliance Power has awarded a Rs 10,000 crore equipment order to GE Energy India for the expansion of its 2,400-MW gas-based power project at Samalkot, in Andhra Pradesh. Under the contract, GE will supply six frame 9FA gas turbines, 3 D-11 steam turbines and generators for the power project.
Reliance Power has also signed a 15 years contractual service agreement under which GE will provide maintenance services for the power project. The order entails a project outlay of over Rs 10,000 crores and is the largest order for GE Energy in India. The project, being implemented as part of the 11th Five- Year Plan, is expected to commence power generation by March, 2012.
